Flying the A-Paritot

.

The bridle line should be around 8 foot long (that is made of a 16 foot long piece). Like wise the tail loop should be at least 4 foot long ( an 8 foot long piece). Use 200 pound test line on the front and 100 pound test on the back.

Get your kite flying straight by adjusting the line length of one of the side bridle lines.. For example if the kite is flying hard to the right during a heavy wind gust then shorten the right line 1 inch. Do that by undoing the slip knot at the bridle. If the kite pulls just slightly right then just shorten by 1/2 inch.

This kite flies with a swag. It will fly to one side, then correct itself, then fly the other direction a few feet. This adds some movement in the sky and can even be hypnotic if you watch it too long.

Adding a streamer tails as in the picture helps color the sky a little more. However too much tail is not a good thing on this kite! It is much better to use line laundry on a extreme wind day. Tails are best flown from a middle point on the back tail string loop as pictured above.

If the kite goes too high overhead and collapses then add some tail or line laundry. Part of the equation of how high an angle the kite flies at is the air drag on the kite line. Obviously 200 pound test line has several times the drag of 30 pound test line. I usually go with 100 pound test line but on very windy days I use 200 pound test line with some added streamers about 20 feet below the kite.

This kite is a big lifter for it's size. Flying the flag from a kite should only be done on days when the wind is steady as you don't want the flag touching the ground during wind lulls.
