First Walk
Lucky Dog's first little walk was to the WhiteHouse Grain Inc. which has a weigh scale. Lucky weighs in at 1840 lbs, that's without propane tanks, a fridge, air conditioner and electric brakes to add back yet. The ad in EBAY said weight was estimated at 1300 so the seller was only about 600 pounds off!
The Grand Caravan C/V manual recommends 2000 lbs as the towing limit so I'm right on that. Lucky for me I live where the land is flat and I hope to trade in my wife's vehicle for a pick up truck some day. A list by state of trailer towing regulations shows that Ohio requires trailer brakes if over 2000 lbs and most states the limit is at 3000. The electric brakes on this old Scotty were long gone but I put new ones on a few months after this first outing so I'm legal now anywhere. Also Mopar sells an add on transmission cooler which I bought at and had installed by Charile's Dodge in Maumee all for $205.
Some good news was the standard mirrors on my Caravan C/V are plenty wide enough so towing mirrors were not needed.
